Alarming
OK, Bill O'Reilly reported that four Philadephians were arrested for "hate speech" for quoting the Bible in public. They were protesting a gay pride event. I am not making any suggestions about my own feelings toward homosexuality, as they are irrelevant, but this story is most alarming. Check out the link. Now, back to my useless drivel...

Yep, this is the way it's going. There are already laws on the books in Canada making it technically illegal for preachers to teach from the Bible in their own churches!
It's ironic that our country, where the insistence on religious freedom was one of the founding principles, now deems the expression of the one, true faith anathema.
I also find it pathetically funny that freedom of speech is protected for anything but the truth. Islamists, Hindus, Neo-Nazis, Krishna and Wiccans have total freedom to spread their nonsense to anyone who will listen, but Christians are told to keep their mouths shut. However, believers shouldn't be surprised by this turn of events. It has always been this way. Preaching the word of God faithfully ALWAYS offends those who know their ways are evil and willfully choose to delight in it.
This is not to say that all homosexuals are intent on evil, but the leaders of their lobby almost certainly are. Most homosexuals, I imagine, are just like most of the people who live in this society -- confused and hurt and seeking comfort in whatever is within reach. I'm convinced that one of the reasons that liberals and their allies in the homosexual lobby are so intent on silencing the Christian Church is that they realize that the power of the truth has the capacity to greatly reduce their numbers. What they don't realize is that persecution such as this is more likely to make the truth about this lifestyle more alarmingly evident to the public and their duped rank and file, as long as God's people continue to speak the truth in love and compassion.
The really scary part about all that is that maybe most people will react to this truth with the same viciousness as that of the Pink Angels and the City of Philadelphia.
I may not agree with their tactics, but that story is just disturbing. Very slippery slope.
I am wholly unwilling to get into a discussion about homosexuality, because my views on this subject are complex, and this could get very long. I most emphatically do not think that your average homosexual is evil. But DN, I agree with you that the leadership is quite alarming. QUITE.
I most certainly do not think that folks of other religions spout "nonsense". I am not even very religious. I'm Catholic, so I really couldn't be that religious, right?
My great concern is the hypocrisy. With me, it's ALWAYS the hypocrisy. If I make a piece of art, a song, or a movie that bashes Christianity, I am just using my right as an American to speak my mind. If I do the very same regarding Judaism, I am guilty of a hate crime. And that is just wrong. Christianity has become the only religion that I can freely bash, and furthermore, I can get NDA money to do it. FOR SHAME. How did it come to this?
To me, it is most telling that Christianity is coming to be seen as a religion of hate, and the Bible as hate speech. This is deeply disturbing, and clearly the result of the leftist elite's "assault on our culture". Thank you, Tammy Bruce, for that perfect phrase.
And this is coming from someone who (I'm really coming out of the closet now!) views most vocal Christians with an eye of great suspicion.
